In all my 23 years of teaching, I have never come across any way to get the kids to want to learn their facts like they do using the Flashmaster.
...
I have 6 kids (4th graders) in my room who can, with ease, pass level 9 dividing, 1 second with 100% every time! You should see their fingers fly! It's absolutely amazing. They want me to make a chart for just them, listing how many times they do that. They simply LOVE to use the Flashmaster. It's funny. I have at least a dozen kids a day begging me to stay in for recess to use them. This is even on nice, beautiful, sunny days!!

Multiplication is MORE amazing, if possible. … Their fingers fly. It is actually fun to watch. … I remember last year my principal … came in the room and watched them. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Thank you! My students are fighting over the FlashMaster. They can’t wait for their turn. It is helping them learn their multiplication tables and review addition & subtraction. It is a great tool!

♦ ♦ ♦

It is a great confidence builder for my students.

♦ ♦ ♦

great tool for keeping students busy productively when they get their work done ahead of the other students.

♦ ♦ ♦

The family of one of my students recently heard about your Flashmaster product. They purchased it sometime within the last two weeks and already their child’s grade for multiplication facts has advanced 20 percentage points.

♦ ♦ ♦

One of my students brought her flashmaster to school yesterday and the class was blown away by it!

♦ ♦ ♦

I rate it as a ten, and I recommend it to everyone

♦ ♦ ♦

It’s great as a teaching tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

Our flashmasters are making a HUGE difference in our students' fact fluency this year; the principal is making plans to purchase a large quantity next year and we have a plan for facilitation in the works.  We love them!

♦ ♦ ♦

By the way, our entire 6th grade class has been using the Flashmasters, and our basic skills scores have improved tremendously.  Thanks Again!!

♦ ♦ ♦

CHUCK, THESE FLASHMASTERS ARE GREAT!  EVERY 3RD 5TH GRADE CLASSROOM SHOULD HAVE A CLASS SET, SO STUDENTS WILL KNOW THEIR MATH FACTS BEFORE THEY REACH MIDDLE SCHOOL.

♦ ♦ ♦

You have a great product

♦ ♦ ♦

My students used 2 of them today in class (for the first time ever) to practice their math facts (add., subtr., multi. and div) and they loved them!  It beats the heck out of the standard drill and kill with flashcards.  It’s a calculator-looking device that lets students practice facts by table, or mixed, timed or not ... it also records the missed problems and lets students just practice those.  It spices things up a bit and throws in some technology.

♦ ♦ ♦

I found NOTHING confusing!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I love it! They are wonderful! Best thing that I have ever purchased for math! ... puts fun into drill

♦ ♦ ♦

First of all, WE LOVE OUR FLASHMASTERS!  My 3rd – 6th graders (remedial Math) beg to use them and their focused concentration on learning their facts is like nothing I've seen before.  Well done!

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a terrific device, a wonderful and fun aid to one any age. It fortifies the basic math facts so needed by today’s students. Thank you for creating this exceptional tool!

♦ ♦ ♦

My students love this! They consider it a treat to practice their facts with it. The common comment is “cool”.

♦ ♦ ♦

Students are quick to learn how to use the program.

♦ ♦ ♦

I want to thank you for the Flashmaster.  I am finding it very useful with students who struggle with their facts.  The girls love using it and always want to play with it.  … I am very happy I have found an education tool (game) that my students love!

♦ ♦ ♦

The Flashmasters are a HUGE hit in our 3rd grade -- and as you know, many girls now have them at home! [11/5/02 email from third-grade teacher in girls’ school. Following are excerpts from 11/23/02 emails from same teacher] We are continuing to LOVE the Flashmasters in our class. Whenever the girls have a free minute in Math, or even at recess, they pull out a Flashmaster to practice their facts! ...With LOTS of practice, we have had 3 girls who were able to complete 50 multiplication flashcards in 1 sec. each with 90% or greater accuracy! Actually, I tried … myself and couldn't do it, but what [the 3 girls] have found is that it's really about practice and persistence. If they start at a slower time, they're usually able to build up to 1 sec. after repeated practice. They develop those "Flashmaster muscles" -- and then they're able to repeat their scores numerous times!

[The next spring a fourth member of the class matched the accomplishment of her just-mentioned three classmates.]

♦ ♦ ♦

Our Exceptional Children's Department loves the Flashmaster.  … The EC teachers say it is the best manipulative that they have seen for math skills.  Works great for students with fine motor skills problems.  The screen is large and numbers have easy access.

♦ ♦ ♦

I was given a free Flashmaster & loaned it to a colleague who teaches low level high school classes. She says 5 kids were all actually fighting over it they loved it so much.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have used the FlashMaster both at school and at home with my children. I have definitely seen results in both places. At school I teach Special Education in a high school setting. These students do not know their math facts, and this has been a great motivational tool for these students to use. They always ask when it is their turn to use it. I have seen their skills improve. I would love to have more of them in my classroom.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love it! The kids love it! Other teachers that I have shown this to love it. The secretaries in the office want to buy for their children. … I am thrilled.
I will be going to a meeting of math teachers on Sat and I'm taking my Flashmaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a wonderful tool that will help tremendously in my math curriculum. I can monitor the students’ progress in learning their basic addition & subtraction facts in a more challenged way! Thank you!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am a
big fan of your product.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am using the flashmaster with students that had had a very hard time with multiplication tables, and they are responding very well, I have the specific case of a 3rd. grader that took 4 weeks to learn the 2's and in 2 weeks with the flashmaster he has learned 3's. 4's, and 5's,!! He is enthusiastic, and his self-esteem has gone up tremendously.

♦ ♦ ♦

[T]hings are so well laid out.

♦ ♦ ♦

[I]t is the first choice of the kids when they have free time.

♦ ♦ ♦

It was easy to figure out and use without the manual. The manual pointed out ways to customize activities that are not intuitive (ex: different # of problems for Flash Cards).

♦ ♦ ♦

The Flashmaster is a big hit in my classroom. … The kids like the different levels, and they especially like being able to see their scores. It gives them incentive to try again to see if they can do better. A few of my honors students wanted to try it as well, so I let them work level 9 with only a few seconds to answer. They were challenged to complete it in time!

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a fabulous product! I have recommended it to all of my parents. I have your website as a direct link from my homepage ....

♦ ♦ ♦

I am very excited about how your product is working in my classroom. The students really enjoy working with it. I have been using it in groups of three. Their functioning levels do not matter because I adjust it to each individual's functioning level, this allows all students to participate in the activity. Working in groups of three encourages friendly competition and motivates the students to do their best and increase their skill levels. … I have encouraged the principal to recommend purchasing them for the elementary grade classrooms.

I knew the principal was going to ask what the flashmaster did. I gave him a demonstration and encouraged him to try it. He was impressed.

♦ ♦ ♦

Knowing one's math facts well leads to doing well in algebra and so forth. Not learning math facts leads to frustration later.

♦ ♦ ♦

I found NOTHING confusing!!

♦ ♦ ♦

[I] like the large display [and] think that the change of format is great since most tests reflect this "missing number" format

♦ ♦ ♦

In my continuing efforts to effectively run each class (of 12 students) in a way that targets each of their individual needs your clever product should be a godsend.

♦ ♦ ♦

Wow!! Better than flashcards! Easy to learn—students can do independently, keep track of progress. Great product.

♦ ♦ ♦

[Note:  The public-school students mentioned in the following comments were all in the same fourth-grade class and in March of 2004 were promised a free FlashMaster if they demonstrated to their teacher—with the help of the FlashMaster's "SEE RESULTS" key—that they had scored at least 90% with a FlashMaster set for:  the Timed Flashcards learning activity, multiplication, Level 7, and a per-problem time limit of one second.]

[Email of March 18:]

I just wanted to share our exciting news with you.  I have a fourth grade student who has worked hard all year to master the timed flashcards function (Level 7).  Today she got a 90% accuracy score at 1.0 seconds!  We are pretty excited!

[Email of March 19:]

I have another student that I expect to meet the same level of mastery.  She has been working since the beginning of the year and her improvement has been tremendous.  For her, especially, the FlashMaster has been a great tool.  It has never come easy to her, but she is here during her recess everyday giving her all.  She is working at 1.6 seconds, Level 7 right now.

I took your challenge as well.  It has been a tough task to train these old fingers of mine to move fast enough to answer 1 second!  I can do it – sometimes!  It makes me that much more proud of my students!

[Email of March 26:]

The multiplication fury continues in my classroom everyday at recess.  The other student I mentioned to you is trying her best to pass the 1.0 marker.  She passed 1.3 seconds earlier this week.  I can't tell you what an accomplishment this is for her.  Thank you for giving her something to work towards.  She is a determined young lady.  I'll keep you updated on her progress.

I also have 4 other fourth graders who are working towards this goal.  I have a second grade boy who is using the flashcards function to practice his addition/subtraction facts.

Thanks again for your wonderful product!

[Email of April 5:]

My students continue to work very hard on their multiplication facts.  Today, a young lady named … passed the 1.0 second Timed Flashcards with 93% accuracy.  …  She is quite excited!

My other student is progressively getting better.  Her highest score is 87%.

[Second email of April 5:]

In a short break after lunch, [name of girl] also passed the 1.0 Timed Flashcards at 90% accuracy.  I am very proud of her effort; this has been a difficult task for her.  She, too, is so excited!

[Email of April 30:]

I have one more fourth grader who has given up his recess to practice math factsHe just passed the Level 7, 1.0 second flashcards.

♦ ♦ ♦

I continue to have more and more successes with those mini-magic machines.  You should read my comments to parents, telling them of their children's improvements that I can trace directly to the use of the FlashMaster.
They're still excited about them, and they still have raging battles for supremacy – it's good to note, though, that the competition that results from FM use is always good natured.  It's quite an interesting phenomenon.

♦ ♦ ♦

Several of our students had the opportunity to preview the Flashmaster prior to our spring break.  As you might have expected, they showed an intuitive grasp of the device.  They were delighted with the ease with which they navigated through the options.  Of course, they elected to try out the FlashMaster with the math problems that they had relative confidence in!  I'm convinced that the kids will show the confidence to use the Flashmaster to help bolster their relatively weak math facts!

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a superb product.  You can't improve it (any way that I can see).  … I, for one, will spread the word.  I tutor learning disabled students—many with retrieval difficulties—FlashMaster works.

♦ ♦ ♦

[t]he FlashMaster is very well made.  Very sturdy.  The battery compartment has an attached Phillips head screw!!  Yea!  Kids don't steal the batteries and I don't lose the screw.  Very well designed. Fits nicely into my hands. (small)

♦ ♦ ♦

Viewing results, missed problems big plus.  Really helped increase speed.

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a great teaching tool!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I’ve had several of my students use the flashmaster. They love it. We practice written + and – facts each day. The flashmaster is a wonderful alternative. It can individualize, reteach & enrich the math facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a wonderful tool that will help tremendously in my math curriculum. I can monitor the students’ progress in learning their basic addition & subtraction facts in a more challenged way! Thank you!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I really like how the battery plate is screwed in place & that the screw doesn't come all the way out & get lost.  Also the "change problem format" is a great feature.

♦ ♦ ♦

[I]t is the first choice of the kids when they have free time.

♦ ♦ ♦

It was easy to figure out and use without the manual. The manual pointed out ways to customize activities that are not intuitive (ex: different # of problems for Flash Cards).

♦ ♦ ♦

As a former teacher turned private tutor (and nonprofit director), I can tell you with all sincerity that I think you've developed an amazing product. My tutoring business serves primarily individuals experiencing difficulty concentrating, paying attention, and/or learning to read, but many of the activities in our program incorporate using some of the basic math skills. I can think of several of my former clients who would greatly benefit from using Flashmaster, some of whom I will see after Spring Break for a few weeks of "brush up." I would be delighted to let them try out my Flashmaster and to direct them to your website. I also work with the school district as a consultant to their English as a Second Language (ESL) Department and know that the ESL teachers as well as countless classrooms would benefit from having a Flashmaster or two in the room …. Additionally, I LOVE the fact that you emphasize allowing students to use their powers of deduction to figure out how the Flashmaster works...there's just not enough of that going on in classrooms in spite of the fact that kids are SO good at it.

♦ ♦ ♦

It's a great little product!

♦ ♦ ♦

WOW! I thought it was too good to be true!!! I received one of the math devices and love it. What a great tool. This is perfect for my small group instruction. It is exactly what I have been looking for. You REALLY don't know what a difference this will make in a child's life.

♦ ♦ ♦

[Y]our invention is super.

♦ ♦ ♦

We are a Title 1 campus. I have students [that] come to me for 50 minutes a day. These kiddos don't respond to just anything, but when I put the Flashmaster in their hands, they came alive. They were trying to beat each other's scores. One Flashmaster just won't do. I must have more.

♦ ♦ ♦

…By the way, the students love the flashmasters!

♦ ♦ ♦

The flashmasters have been a big hit with the students who have used them in our Special Ed Learning Center … My students have been really benefiting from it. It's funny, I have some children who are really motivated by the challenge of the timed tests, and others who clearly, cannot handle the time element. So the options have been very important. Thanks for inventing this great little learning tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am a New Zealander currently teaching for a semester at [a California public] High School (where i have taught Mathematics on and off since 1976). Some of my very low level students have told me they have never learned their multiplication and division facts, and lo and behold i found that our department had just received a shipment of 35 Flashmasters. I installed batteries and put them to immediate use. The other math teachers and my students were hooked - now everyone wants to use them.

♦ ♦ ♦

[W]e all are quite impressed. I think the layout of the keypad and the choice of timed or not timed is pretty cool. Plus, the instructions are very clear. I discovered your product at … Country School, where I used to teach 4th grade. Now I substitute and tutor. It is a terrific tool for my students...I love it. I tell parents about it all the time!!

♦ ♦ ♦

[W]e love the FlashMasters ... kids, teachers, and parents. We have had not one problem with any of them.

♦ ♦ ♦

Thank you, Chuck, for the amazing flashMaster. It truly is a wonderful tool for special ed. math students.

♦ ♦ ♦

We have found it to be a very satisfactory tool for establishing and polishing the math skills necessary for the solid foundation of more advanced mathematics. ... We are able to report on the successful integration of the FlashMaster into the math curriculum of the school.

♦ ♦ ♦

I don't know if you specifically remember me.....a professor of teacher ed.....moving to a new univ. in Illinois....and homeschooling three daughters...grades 3, 5, and 7. The flashmaster has been an overwhelming hit at home with the third grader and the 7th grader. My 5th grader is into movement and does most math in her head....But the other two have been on the flashmaster 3 to 4 times a week. What is great is the adaptability to each individual level. My husband finishes instruction with one and then they go do flashmaster independently at a specified level while he takes another for instruction.....Versatility and independence....those are the keys for making the flashmaster successful.

♦ ♦ ♦

At home my youngest son was struggling with his math facts, and so I would bring the Flashmaster home at night for him to use. He loved it and saw his scores improve. He was disappointed if I forgot to bring it home. He now knows his facts very well, but he still uses the machine to practice.

I have really been impressed with the Flashmaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think the FlashMaster you sent was awesome.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think that the product is wonderful. I love the large, crisp screen, the size/weight of the product, and the practice variations that are possible.

♦ ♦ ♦

I can honestly say the Flashmaster really works. I haven't used it in my classroom of 2nd graders yet, but am anxious to do so in the fall. Where I have seen the results is with my own son. He just finished 3rd grade. He was struggling with his multiplication facts until we brought the Flashmaster home from the conference. He started using it, and loved it. His ability and scores went up immediately. What's better is he pulled it out again the other day, after being out of school for a month, and his scores were still high, and he was able and wanting to brush up on the facts he was having difficulty with. He recently took the Flashmaster to a family reunion and he and his cousin (same age) were having contests with it. They look at the Flashmaster as a new kind of game. It's great.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love it
and will be ordering a set for my class this fall.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have encouraged staff to use with kids for remedial purposes, including Special Ed. kids

♦ ♦ ♦

I'm pleased to say that virtually every child that has used it has been interested, challenged, and happy with the results. I've taken it home, where my two sons, eight and four years old, have played with it. I did as you had suggested and simply explored the features first, actually for quite some time. I then read the information and found that I had discovered most of the features. I used the same approach with students; letting them explore, then checking in with them to see what they'd figured out. I think that your device does just what you'd hoped: it provides a simple, effective way for students to practice and learn important math facts. My four-year old son is learning his numbers and was able to work through the ones table (to his delight), and continued to explore and play with the device for some time. I also sent the FlashMaster home during spring break with one of my students in the fifth grade that is experiencing some difficulty with math facts. It was such a success that I had trouble getting it back! I've been recommending your device to other teachers and feel that it would be a worthy investment for any classroom.

♦ ♦ ♦

We think the FlashMaster is great and see a need to have more of them in the school. It's portability is a major advantage, and so is it's easy layout and attractive appearance.

♦ ♦ ♦

I used to work as a nanny for someone at … Publishers. They went to the NCTM conference and saw your product. They loved it so much they bought one for their children. They also showed it to me. I have since then graduated and started teaching. I would love to have it in my class for my third graders but due to budget cuts, my school can't afford them right now. I just wanted to say I think the Flashmaster is wonderful!

♦ ♦ ♦

Hi! I use the flashmaster with my small center groups during math time. Three children work together taking turns and sometimes they work cooperatively on the answers too. They enjoy doing their math facts in a new way and I like being able to check if they were working the whole time. Thank you for this resource.

♦ ♦ ♦

Since I last wrote, I loaned the F.M. to a colleague to try w/ her 12 year old daughter who still has trouble w/ her facts. She challenged her to do some no. of facts within some time. Annie wouldn't quit till she'd done it and then went on to cut that time in half!
My colleague loves it …. [T]he power is in seeing it used by kids, I think.

♦ ♦ ♦

L… passed the Flashmaster on to me to use with my students. They loved it! I approached a few of my students from the perspective that I didn't know how to work the Flashmaster. They grabbed it and began trying to figure out its workings. The rest of my students became interested and wanted to participate. After one student figured out how to work the Flashmaster it was passed to the next awaiting student. Once all students knew how to work the Flashmaster, they argued as to who would be the first official "user". I had them take turns with a partner towards the end of the hour for a week. Once each student had used the Flashmaster we discussed its use and how they would benefit from it. They were very honest. They realized how weak their basic math skills were and how the Flashmaster would help to improve them. One student even admitted that she had memorized a few multiplication facts in the few times she had used the Flashmaster already! My students enjoyed working with the Flashmaster with the limited amount of time we had left in the semester. I will be incorporating it into my daily activities next year.

♦ ♦ ♦

I want to let you know that the Flashmaster is wonderful. I have been talking to some elementary teachers about it. They are very impressed. I will continue talking to them about it. It works wonderful with students that have a hard time with their basic multiplication facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have to tell you that the head of special ed in our school came by last week to ask how she could order flashmasters. She is very excited about using them for several reasons including the ability to measure a child's progress.

I hope she orders many. We are a very small school but judging from 7th graders, we need a lot of help with helping the kids learn their math facts.

I have been using them in class successfully. The kids compete against each other. I have been thinking about having them compete against me for fun. They are so quick with computer game fingering that they may beat me which would be fun.

Keep up the good work!

♦ ♦ ♦

I have used the FlashMaster with a few students and they love it. I'm hoping to be able to share it with the entire staff at a staff meeting.

♦ ♦ ♦

I teach a 7th grade math class and there are several students in the class that don't have their math facts down yet and I thought the Flashmaster could be very helpful for them.

My 20 students have all tried the Flashmaster. I asked them to see if it was easy to use without reading directions and what they thought about it. They wrote notes which I will transcribe for you. The overall consensus was that it was "fun." Students have asked to use it when they finish their homework - I thought that was a good sign!

♦ ♦ ♦

This is an awesome tool for learning math facts, and you don't have to drill them! I absolutely love it!

♦ ♦ ♦

This is a lot more fun for the kids than flashcards.

♦ ♦ ♦

I must tell you about how excited I am to have this in my hands! ... I teach small groups and our facts are our primary focus with these students. I passed the one I received the other day around to the kids and they were mesmerized. They did not want to go back to their class.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think the device is great!!!!!!!!!!!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I gave a couple to the special ed department in our school and they were a hit. I would like to get them into more classrooms this coming year.

♦ ♦ ♦

So far, I've had a few kids use it and they love it. I have a parent volunteer in the class and she thinks it's great too. Good work.

♦ ♦ ♦

Thank you so much for the FlashMaster! It is great.

♦ ♦ ♦

The Flashmasters are a great learning tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have sent the flashmaster home with several kids. I also gave one to the second and third grade teachers. It has been a hit with that age group! Many parents have stopped me to say their child loves it! … I will continue to encourage people to use it! My class is still taking turns with it at home.

♦ ♦ ♦

Will remember to keep Flashmaster as a treat for kids to look forward to.

♦ ♦ ♦

We think Flashmaster is
GREAT.

♦ ♦ ♦

We have received the Flashmasters and with limited time so far, I'm impressed with the look, the feel, the ease of operation. I'm really looking forward to having the students assess them. Thanks again!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am the math resource teacher at … School in McLean, VA. The Flashmasters have … been a big hit and many parents are planning to order them for their homes

♦ ♦ ♦

I will continue to share your product with parents and other teachers in the area. The children here love it!

♦ ♦ ♦

The kids really like them.
[private tutor and elementary school teacher at … School, NYC, NY, which specializes in children with learning disabilities]

♦ ♦ ♦

This is good news.
I have been demoing (is this a verb?) the FlashMaster with our elementary principals (they were really excited) ….

♦ ♦ ♦

We placed the product in a 3rd Grade classroom as a means to determine interest and applicability for our students. The response has been very positive. … [My] congratulations on a great invention.

♦ ♦ ♦

You should see the difference in my older kids' skills in just these few days ... unbelievable
.  The younger ones are less voracious, but still mesmerized by the machines. . … The kids have found tremendous satisfaction … and they don't seem to be put off if they're low on the performance scale.  They just practice harder.  One of my formerly weak calculators is one of the fastest after a few nights home with an FM.

♦ ♦ ♦

I found it to be user friendly

♦ ♦ ♦

My class enjoyed trying the Flashmaster and would practice independently. I really didn't track them, but know that they enjoyed the techno-practice.

♦ ♦ ♦

The flashmasters are wonderful--thank you so much. My 5th grade class uses them as a center. Students who are struggling with their times facts are using the flash card settings to study a particular time table. Others use the flashmasters when they are done with their work. The students love them. This year my class is really moving forward rapidly with their xfacts--a big part of that is the practice they get from the flashmaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think kids will really like math facts practice with the FlashMaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am a mentor teacher to about 30 middle school teachers. Most of the[m] have problems with basic facts. I had the opportunity to see one from a teacher that had attended the National Math Conference. No one in our district has the Flashmaster, but the teachers who brought it are really excited about it. I too really like it and would like to show it off.

I found the FlashMaster a very useful tool to help students practice their math facts. It is easy to use. I like how you have the various levels on the back for quick reference. I could see a teacher having several of them for her students instead of using worksheets. … Parents pay anywhere from $20-$69 for a math program for their computers. These are usually in game format and kids love them. This, on the other hand, is portable, and to the point. In my experience, kids enjoy practicing their facts. They would enjoy using this tool very much - far better than doing a ditto!!! I will be demonstrating it to a group of teachers who represent each of the 10 elementary schools in our district.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love the Flash Master
. As a matter of fact I am using it this summer as I tutor. I have had several students and parents ask about purchasing one.

Actually, I work with some underprivileged children who I think I will give them to if it doesn't cost me too much.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have the Flashmaster, have played with it on my own, and found it very easy to make friends with--and this from someone who is still struggling with her cellphone!

Next step, bring it to the children!

♦ ♦ ♦

C … just dropped by our little school in Nfld. and gave me finishing school today...my Primary kids will just love this. This is my 25th year of teaching and I'm so excited about your product!!! Way to go!!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am very happy with the FlashMasters.  … I am using them in my class and continuing to collect data for my article.  Two years ago I conducted an action research project on improving children's mathematical abilities.  I have data that I collected from that project and I want to compare the progress of children who use the FlashMaster in addition to the other teaching techniques I use.  I see a huge improvement in X., who scored a 4% on the SAT last April.  That's about as low as you can get, since 50% is average and the 4% was probably earned just by random chance guessing.  Already X. has passed Test 1 (a 2 minute test of 30 addition facts with sums to 10).  This may seem like a modest accomplishment, but in September X. took 2 minutes to add 3 or 4 problems.  X picks up a FlashMaster every chance he gets.  As soon as I collect more compelling data, I will publish and compare the two classes.  I have also shown the FlashMaster around to my colleagues.  I can share my grant and encourage other teachers to apply for one for FlashMasters next May.

I have told several of my parents about the FlashMaster and have recommended it to the 7 older children (5th graders) who meet in my room for FCAT Test camp after school with the guidance counselor.  …  The fifth graders were entranced when I let them use the FlashMasters until the guidance counselor arrived.

This is what one of my students said about the FlashMaster: “It is really cool. It has all kinds of problems (adding, dividing, etc.). It was very easy to use, and I understood it.”

♦ ♦ ♦

I have seen many uses for the FlashMaster. There is high interest among my students. It is a great way to teach facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

The students think it's really cool, and one who owns a comparable product already has asked her buddy to get her a Flashmaster for her birthday...

In the classroom, they are still fighting over possession.

♦ ♦ ♦

I can't wait to get the FM into the hands of my students. I heard about it last Saturday from a teacher-friend on the east coast, and I immediately ordered one online. I quickly told my principal about it and she, from my enthusiasm, was ready to order one for herself for a trial period at least. The device arrived today and after half an hour of "playing" I'm sold!

Dr. Mel Levine writes in his new book about how important automaticity with arithmetic tables is for future success in math. He suggests that parents need to take the lead in getting their children to drill and practice, with suggestions from school. With Mel Levine in mind I recommend to students/parents that they: make tables & charts; practice skip counting (counting by multiples); say the problem and answer aloud; write the problem and answer on paper; use a calculator. I think the FlashMaster is going to supercede all of these techniques in terms of appeal to students and efficacy.

I wanted to know what the Pause button did (why it didn't work when I pressed it) and went looking for an index at the back of the Guide and a table of contents in the front. I found a picture of the FM instead with all the buttons on the device page-referenced. Even better!

♦ ♦ ♦

I echo everything that the third grade teacher reports. My students love to practice on the Flashmaster in their free time and it is such an easy way for me to run my class. Some kids on an activity and some on the Flashmaster and then they switch.

♦ ♦ ♦

This seems great for grades 2-6 to practice & reinforce basic facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I received your wonderful product yesterday! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. I will pass on business cards to interested parents. I can't wait to get my students started with it.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love the FlashMaster and have encouraged other teachers & the parents of students to buy it.

♦ ♦ ♦

I like FlashMaster because it doesn't waste a lot of time on "entertainment" yet keeps students' attention because it is challenging.  I keep a chart for students to record their progress.

♦ ♦ ♦

Flashmaster is an excellent math learning tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

It’s a fantastic machine ….

♦ ♦ ♦

I enjoyed using it myself!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I will spread the word.  I’m a big fan.  And amazingly (to me), the kids love them too.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think this is a great tool!    The results key will be very helpful ….

♦ ♦ ♦

The FlashMaster is great!

♦ ♦ ♦

A great product

♦ ♦ ♦

It's great!!!  I only recently began using it with the students receiving academic intervention services.  The few students who have tried it thoroughly enjoyed it.  The most difficult part was getting them to put it down!  I've recommended it to both colleagues and friends.

♦ ♦ ♦

The FlashMaster is a useful tool.  It has produced results on some of the most difficult students that I've known in my 2+ years at [national tutoring franchise].  The "Timed Practice" feature is especially useful; it repeats the problems that the student got wrong, pounding it in until they get it.  Most students prefer using it instead of other mediums, and it saves on pens/pencils and paper.

♦ ♦ ♦

… the students are enjoying it.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am letting the math developer use it right now and she LOVES it!!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I have now let two separate students take the unit home for the weekend and their parents have shown interest in purchasing them.  I especially like the feature that changes where the question mark is located.

♦ ♦ ♦

The students really like the FlashMaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

We just started to use the flashmaster.  A teacher in kindergarten wanted to try it out.  She has a child that is ready for first grade, he is using it and loving it.  I wish I had another one, another teacher wants to try it out with her after school program.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love the FlashMaster.  I am going to train my aide to use it when she tutors students who are still having trouble learning their multiplication tables.  When I first got it in the mail I played with it for at least a hour.  It was a lot of fun and definitely kept my attention.

♦ ♦ ♦

Hey, I received the flashmaster today, Thursday.  That was quick.  I love this thing and am anxious to take it home to my ten year old grandson.

♦ ♦ ♦

When I have the ELL students in my math class, the flashmasters have proven to be quite effective.
Because of this effectiveness, the ELL teacher would like to get some for tutoring purposes.

♦ ♦ ♦

We are so happy with the flashmasters we have that we are looking for additional funds to purchase more.  Even the kindergarten teachers are demanding them.

♦ ♦ ♦

The students are enjoying the flashmasters.

♦ ♦ ♦

The Flashmasters are great!
We used them at the beginning of the school year and the kids loved them.  Many are proficient, so now I have them going home for a week or so at a time with individuals.

♦ ♦ ♦

My 8 year old was having confidence problems with subtraction. I brought this home from the NCTM conference and he would choose Flashmaster over Gameboy at times because he liked it so much.

♦ ♦ ♦

BTW, I love the flashmaster.  I am a parent volunteer math teacher in our school and these devices are wonderful – extremely helpful when children are at different levels.  Thanks!!

This is a great tool for the classroom.

♦ ♦ ♦

It works great!

♦ ♦ ♦

My kids love the FlashMaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

I've had my teachers all demo the unit you provided.  They think it's terrific … I do think it's a great idea.  I've used it with some kids 2nd – 4th who are sent to the Principal's office for discipline.  I just tossed it down in front of them and told them to figure it out.  Great results!

♦ ♦ ♦

It is great!!

♦ ♦ ♦

Flashmaster is an excellent math learning tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

All of the teachers that have looked at it and tried it out think it's great!
We can see the students really using it and will be recommending it our parents.

♦ ♦ ♦

[I]t is great!  The kids took to it very quickly and easily...I think it is  because it is very similar to a "video game"....

♦ ♦ ♦

I have been volunteering four days a week in a program [in La Yerbabuena, Mexico] that provides an opportunity to keep some poor kids off the street after they finish school ….

The conception is good, but there is only one poorly paid staff who must deal with 8 to 16 very wild kids.  …

They are really terrible in math preparation, with about three exceptions, three kids who are really quite good.  The rest know little and could care less.  Of about 5 fourth graders, only one knows their times tables.  The rest get stuck on 3 x’s anything.  Actually they understand about multiplying and dividing (the older ones), but most still have serious problems with addition.  …

My math program consisted of a bunch of addition and multiplication flash cards.  I would try and find their appropriate level and start working one on one.  I kept track of their progress.  One day one of the nuns gave me a whole sack of candy that some kind soul had left for the kids, so I began to use this as a prize every time they could move to a new level.  This was working pretty well, but only about a quarter of the kids were interested in sitting down with me and doing some real brain work.

With the Flashmaster I have now increased the number of kids seriously working on their math to about 60%.  These are kids who are at least once a week trying to move to a new level.  About 10% work every day.  They may do a new level every day.  As I said it is all individually done.  I have fourth graders doing 4+ and one first grader who has done all the +’s and is now doing subtraction, and make good progress with her times tables.

Obviously, I am very hot for the Flashmaster.  It has definitely given my math program a shoot in the arm.  I like the flexibility and different levels.  One size (one Flashmaster) fits all.  The kids like the fact that it is in the form of a computer game.  They like the game and challenge part.  They … know how to set the thing they are working on.  I followed the directions and in the beginning sessions just let them play with it and discover.  You might be interested to know that the fact all the instructions are in English seems completely irrelevant.  They have no problem understanding when errors are made or changing functions, etc.  Two of my most outstanding students wouldn’t even work with me before Flashmaster.  They both like to take it off by themselves.  Both are very dedicated and are moving ahead rapidly.  The machine so far seems pretty indestructible.

♦ ♦ ♦

[W]hen I used one in my classroom I couldn't believe how well it held the students attention. I have many students who have attention problems and this really seemed to do the trick. I'm only speculating, but I think it may be that it is very interactive much like the video games they play.

♦ ♦ ♦

I was at a colleague’s home the other day … when she stepped out to get the mail.  She walked back in the door very excited and saying, "it's here, it's here!"  She proceeded to open the package and it was a Flashmaster.  She did not say anything other than here play with this for a bit.  I did, WOW!  I really enjoyed the fast pace and the different ways that the problems are presented.  I also like the way that it reviews the results, so that students can chart their scores and know if they are doing better than the time before.

♦ ♦ ♦

I received my flashmaster today.  Thanks!  It's great.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think you've created a great tool for kids

♦ ♦ ♦

[I]t will be a neat supplement to our curriculum.

♦ ♦ ♦

Cristina and Victor … are ecstatic over the flashmaster. … I have been trying since early September to get them to learn the multiplication tables. It's not that they can't learn, it's just that it's a tiresome process that they find ways not to go through. But they are fighting over flashmaster. Yesterday Victor did table 5 at 100 percent on the second try. … Victor (11) and Christina (9) are among the five children I am teaching in La Yerbabuena [Mexico]. ..

[My husband] and I have known for some time that the failure of Mexican schoolchildren to learn the mult. tables is a genuine handicap as they move up in math. The schools do not emphasize this enough, for with the numbers they must handle, they don't find the time. Children who, like Victor and Cristina, who have an illiterate mother and semi-literate father, are especially handicapped, for they are unlikely to be drilled at home on the tables.

♦ ♦ ♦

I received my Flashmaster today and the kids think it is great!!!  They all want to play and explore what they can do with it.  Thanks so much for sending us one.  I am trying to find funds for more as all the kids want one!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I'm the math specialist at … Elementary …. My principal is willing to approve a P.O. for 24 more FlashMasters! … We love them and are telling all our friends!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am really excited about your product and hope to be ordering more soon, whether it is just for my program or for the entire school!

♦ ♦ ♦

The
kids love it.

♦ ♦ ♦

Our SE department says wonderful things about it.

♦ ♦ ♦

It works great!  Over the past months, I have used software programs and flash cards and the Flashmaster is not only easy for the kids to use themselves, they also find it to be find without having to sit down at the computer all the time.

♦ ♦ ♦

great alternative to flash cards!

♦ ♦ ♦

We use these in my classroom.  They are awesome!

♦ ♦ ♦

The students in the learning center love the flashmaster.

♦ ♦ ♦

My kids have already shown substantial gains in their calculating skills in just the short class time
they have had to use them.

One student has jumped, in adding, from 46% to 100% (nearly 100% of the time) at 90 sec...Level 7!  I have done everything known to man to activate him...NADA.   Along comes the FlashMaster and he's an overnight sensation!  … The FM is a part of our lives now.  I am delighted, and I hope my cohort[s] will recognize how vigorously they can animate the desire to "do math" by using the Flashmasters.

♦ ♦ ♦

[O]ur Special Ed teacher is really liking the unit.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have had a student test it for me.  I just handed it to her without any instructions after she told me she was having difficulty in math.  She is in third grade.  After three weeks, her mother told me that it is fantastic.  Her progress in math facts has been phenomenal.

♦ ♦ ♦

I just received the FlashMaster and love it.  I work at 2 schools and have teachers at both schools.  The students really enjoy it, and are motivated by seeing their scores.

♦ ♦ ♦

Let me say, you have a wonderful product here, and hope that you do extremely well.  I was very impressed with how quickly you shipped the first 12 out to me, and my students LOVE them.  I was showing the Flashmaster to teachers in our staff lounge, explained and showed how it tracks the last 9 activities.  Anyhooo, to make a long story short, a few of these teachers today were talking about how their kids were really enjoying tracking their progress on math things and I reminded these colleagues that the FlashMaster holds the last 9 activities' results.  They were stunned, and wanted to see the machine again.

♦ ♦ ♦

highly engaging

♦ ♦ ♦

This is what one of my students said about the FlashMaster.  “It is really cool.  It has all kinds of problems (adding, dividing, etc.)  It was very easy to use and I understood it.”  I have seen many uses for the FlashMaster.  There is high interest among my students.  It is a great way to teach facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

Love the flashmaster.  Students and grandkids love it.

♦ ♦ ♦

This is simply a great product.  My children, ages 9 and 7.5, see it as a "math gameboy" -- thus they both want to use it.   I like that they can do it on their own and show me the results of their efforts.  The independence gained for both of us is grand!

In addition to my endorsement with my clients, you have their endorsement with their friends and homeschool pals.  Additionally, they think you should require parents to get one per child.

♦ ♦ ♦

I thank you so much.  It has just been a wonderful experience using them….  And it always has everybody's interest from the lowest student in the bunch to the A student who wants to get faster and faster on them.  So it's just incredible.  And everything that it says on your website from people is absolutely the truth.  The kids just love them.

Somebody at the end of the year sent me a whole pile of old math things that they had put a lot time in since the beginning of their career … all sorts of old flash cards and old games and things like that and I looked at them and I realized that it was a lot of somebody's effort but I just ditched them all because I have the FlashMaster and nowadays the kids are just enthralled with it and there's no reason to go to anything else

♦ ♦ ♦

THESE FLASHMASTERS ARE GREAT

♦ ♦ ♦

The fourth grade has received a fantastic gift from P.T.O. funds!! Together with the fifth grade, we requested Flashmaster units.   Flashmasters are hand held math games that improve math fact efficiency.  We will be able to use them for timed tests, practice and just plain FUN!!  Thank you so much to our wonderful PTO for this gift that will benefit all of our students.  …  The students really enjoy using them and they improve their math skills.

♦ ♦ ♦

My [second grade] students in 2003-4 ranged from low to average in math abilities. Eleven of the 16 children who took the SAT-9 in first grade scored below 40%. The average score for the class was 32%. The students used the FlashMasters enthusiastically throughout the day as they completed assignments and during center times. Did the FlashMasters improve their mathematical abilities? The scores for the 16 students rose from 517 to 751 and climbed to an average of 47%, an increase of fifteen percentage points.

♦ ♦ ♦

We (the teachers & students) are loving these incredible machines!

♦ ♦ ♦

I just wanted to send you an email … to inform you of the great success we're having here at N. Middle School with the Flashmaster (using it in a structured way M-W-F) … some of our parents want to buy them to have them permanently at home.

♦ ♦ ♦

The kids love it … I forwarded the website yesterday to all of the parents. … Great tool. … flashmaster is a great product

♦ ♦ ♦

I wish I had documented all the skills increases I observed this summer.  In a two week half-day "Power Prep", kids, going into 3rd and 4th, had solid leaps in their grasp and retention of basic math facts.  I want them to jump from FlashMaster to mental-math-in-a-hurry, and many of them were astonishing.  When I combined the FlashMaster with fact family triangles, the light bulbs went on almost audibly.  They feel so smart about learning one fact and getting the other three as a bonus!  I can't tell you how grateful I am for your machine!

♦ ♦ ♦

My children are really enjoying it.  It is an excellent tool to use in math.

♦ ♦ ♦

The kids are getting great practice!

♦ ♦ ♦

Just tell them when a student I had (grade 5) who failed a year and was 3 years behind in reading and math facts, started using the Flashmaster, it built up his confidence and self-esteem to the point that he could be taught reading and math.  Before that, he had had absolutely no confidence to anything in class.

♦ ♦ ♦

I was tutoring a student this summer and told her mom she needed to really work on math facts.  Yesterday she brought in the flashmaster to show me—what an awesome toll!!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am an itinerant teacher, traveling between several schools.  I purchased 6 Flashmasters from you last year, and I am happily using them again this year. … I work in the … Public Schools; I've recommended the Flashmaster to MANY TEACHERS, and they have also purchased several for their schools.  I haven't seen anything like them—our students just love to hone their skills with the Flashmaster!

♦ ♦ ♦

My school has a classroom set of FlashMasters that we use with these kids to practice fact power. … We have found that it truly helps students master their facts.  It … appeals to the kids who like gameboys.  I like that it can be used with early 2nd graders learning easy addition facts and also with fifth graders doing division.  It is a great tool!

♦ ♦ ♦

I can't tell you how nice it is to have a whole classroom set!

♦ ♦ ♦

[T]he students LOVE them.  It makes practicing their facts fun!

♦ ♦ ♦

We have our students practice 3 minutes every night (except weekends) (addition and subtraction only, for now) and record their results.  You can actually watch the improvement by reviewing their record sheets.

♦ ♦ ♦

[A]ll of the teachers who commented on it after having time to "play" with it were enthusiastic.  I agree.  The more I use it, the more excited I am.  I've recommended it to friends …. I am happy that I have the opportunity to share this tool with others.  When my grandson gets a little older, guess what will be under the Christmas tree!!  Many thanks

♦ ♦ ♦

Wow!  What a fantastic math game!  A teacher friend introduced me to FlashMaster and what a wonderful tool for students to use in the classroom/home learning their math facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am so happy to have received the FLASHMASTER so quickly.  I purchased this for my daughter who is a struggling learner.  It was recommended to us by her speech therapist ….  I have begun to use this just the way you said.  I am playing with it and my daughter is playing with it and I will have students play with it before we read the directions.  As a teacher, this suggestion made me realize that you are a person who "gets it" when it comes to learning.  If they discover it, they own it.  I am very pleased with this too.  As a Title I Mathematics teacher, I see tremendous possibilities for a reasonably priced quality piece of technology.

♦ ♦ ♦

We are really loving these.  I have set up a system and we will be using flashmasters in all grades with all students each and every day in grades 1 through 6 by Christmas.  Right now we have the program going with all 3rd and 4th.  Everyone loves it—especially students.  Thanks so much for your genius!

♦ ♦ ♦

I am a resource math teacher ….  My 7th graders came to me with huge gaps in their ability to recall math facts. … My students absolutely adore the little contraption!!!!  They are willingly learning their math facts.  This has been such an encouragement to us all.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am an Educational Psychologist in private practice who … suggests your product to my students.

♦ ♦ ♦

My [6th grade] kids are having a blast with it!

♦ ♦ ♦

I work with a student who just received a flashmaster as a present and it's a wonderful tool.

♦ ♦ ♦

We are enjoying our flashmasters very much.  Students that struggle with the basics love it and so do the "whiz kids" that can challenge themselves by decreasing the time and increasing level of difficulty.

♦ ♦ ♦

I … shared it with my students.  They loved it.  You'd be amazed how many high school students don't know basic facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have used these with third grade special ed students and found them to be the most successful tool in helping them master their multiplication facts, zeros through twelves.  The FlashMaster provides the repetition and individualized format that my students needed to help them learn and retain so many facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am spreading the word to fellow teachers/administrators in favor of their use.  …

P.S.  Test results are impressive.

♦ ♦ ♦

I received my flashmaster two weeks ago!  I have been quite pleased with it, as have the children in my classroom.  I recommended this product to each of their parents at conference time last week and I know that several of them have already ordered one for their child.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have also recommended it to numerous parents of the Tutorial Programme that I administer on Saturdays.  … I think this is an exceptional teaching assistant and the children love it.

♦ ♦ ♦

It is an AWESOME learning device

♦ ♦ ♦

I ordered the first set of flashmasters in this county from you back in June, when I purchased 30 for $1,000 even.  Since then, we have experienced GREAT success and I have inserviced math teachers throughout the county on four occasions ….

♦ ♦ ♦

[My principal] has been extremely pleased with the progress we're seeing in some of our "lowest" achieving incoming sixth graders - and students enjoy working on them several times a week for homework!

♦ ♦ ♦

My class is multi-handicapped—small increments are wonderful—no other machine I know of has that

♦ ♦ ♦

This is an amazing product.

♦ ♦ ♦

It is awesome—I can't believe how the kids love working with it and they fight over who gets to use it next.

♦ ♦ ♦

I love your machine.

♦ ♦ ♦

I am currently using the Flash Masters we have at Landmark College with a class of adult students.  They LOVE it.  The Flash Master is versatile enough to challenge all students in this class, from those who are extremely unsure of many of the facts to those whose math anxiety leads to many careless errors.  One student is just very slow with great comprehension, but that student is already seeing the benefit of the timed practices in speeding up fact recognition.

♦ ♦ ♦

I just received the FlashMaster. I’m very impressed with delivery. Great job! My best friend is a middle school math teacher and I took it to her class so we could “play” on it together. How fun. The 7th graders in her class would not stay in their seats. They wanted to play with us.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have used your Flashmaster with some of my students and you asked for feedback.  I love what it does!!

♦ ♦ ♦

A parent in my class recently purchased a FlashMaster for her child ….  I have seen the child become increasingly motivated to learn her facts.  Your product has made it a fun challenge ….

♦ ♦ ♦

One of my students … had been having difficulty learning his multiplication facts, and I suggested to his mother that he try a computer program.  Apparently, they bought a Flashmaster and in no time he knew his facts.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have good news!  The third graders at our school have been using FlashMasters every morning.  I have two students … who have passed Level 7 multiplication at 1 second.  I am so excited because these are third graders!

♦ ♦ ♦

Great product.

♦ ♦ ♦

I have tried the Flashmaster—along with some of my students—and found it be useful and fun!  Many quiet educational moments in class have been provided by what my students call the "math computer".Thank you!

♦ ♦ ♦

Fabulous tool!!

♦ ♦ ♦

The flashmaster has really motivated the kids in my building, and I am so glad to have them working on them.

♦ ♦ ♦

the results have continued to be joyful.  One to share ---- Yesterday, I was in the hall when one of my former students, a first grader, stopped me on the spot, dug down deep in her bulto (now on the floor), and ceremoniously handed me a Flash Master I had loaned her just before Christmas.  Miss Intensity, very self assured, then said, "Thank you very much.  Mamí is going to buy one.  It is a real help.  I am now VERY good at math!"  With that, she sped off to class.  What a moment!  She was so proud she shone...........

N.B.  This child's older brother was FM's first huge success story last year!  He's the youngster who made a quantum leap in less than one month.

♦ ♦ ♦

Yesterday, [a public-school] teacher told me that this is the first year in 17 years of teaching that every third grader in her class will pass all their flashcards for all the times tables.  Usually she said she'll have a handful that finish, the majority get to their 7s and 8s, and a few will not get past the 3s.  She is delighted this year to have everyone so close to finishing.  She credits the flashmaster for helping this class show such mastery.

Good testimony for your product!

♦ ♦ ♦

I think it's a great product.

♦ ♦ ♦

We love your product.

♦ ♦ ♦

We are loving it!

♦ ♦ ♦

Thanks again for your support as we attempt to improve the academic success of inner city youth.  The children really enjoy working with the Flashmaster and we can see improvement in the student performance on the memorization of their facts.  I will continue to inform other schools of the Flashmaster because I truly believe it makes a difference and motivates students.

♦ ♦ ♦

I think the Flashmaster is great

♦ ♦ ♦

I really have not had a student "out-grow" the flashmaster.  [Name of third grader], who mastered the one second challenge earlier this year, is now working on levels 8 and 9 at one second and is also working on division.

♦ ♦ ♦

Your flashmasters have really made a tremendous difference in our students' abilities in math.  They LOVE it!  I have several 4th graders who have completed 1.6 seconds and are trying for the 1.3 seconds.

♦ ♦ ♦

Chuck, thank you for your support for our students here at [W].  It really has made a difference in their lives -- as they are gaining confidence in math every day!  That translates to their choices of higher level math classes in Jr. and Sr. High School.  THAT translates to career opportunities that would not have been available to them without the math confidence.

♦ ♦ ♦

Hi!  I just want you to know
